Peas Optimistic Through October

PANAMA - May 3/24 - SNS -- Northern hempisphere field pea markets maintained a relatively firm tone in spot and new crop markets.

Spot values are supported by tightening inventories on farms and in commercial positions; while new crop markets got a lift from news India extended the duty free period for pea imports.

Shipments with on board bills of lading dated on or before October 31, 2024 will be allowed to enter the country duty free.


Mustard Volatile But Worried

PANAMA - May 3/24 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets maintained their recent volatile tone through the past week.

This saw declines posted in the upper end of the bid ranges for both yellow and brown in spot shipping positions, while oriental weas unchanged. New crop bid ranges were largely unchanged.

Current volatility reflects the ebb and flow of the hort term needs of exporters and processors to meet shipping commitments versus the willingness of farmers to sell more of any inventories remaining on their farms.
