STAT Communications Ag Market News

Specialty Crop Market Analysis on the Internet

Since its creation, STAT Communications Ltd. has dedicated itself to understanding specialty crop markets and following those for major grains and oilseeds. It is now the No 1 source of market information on these commodities for processors, importers and exporters in over 25 countries.

Founded in Canada in 1988, STAT started as a mail and fax service, but in the early 1990s we started making the transition to the internet and opened the STAT website in May of 1995 -- making us one of, if not the first agricultural commodity newsletter to become available on the internet. Over several years we have worked to better understand markets for traditional agricultural commodities and in 2002 created AgReport to meet the needs of farmers, growers and traders of grains, oilseeds, livestock and other products.

Brian Clancey is our publisher and senior market analyst. He brings spectacular credentials to his position within our company. He started his professional career as an award winning farm journalist. He then spent 10 years as an export grain trader dealing in Canadian specialty crops, working for some of the largest Canadian specialty crop originating, processing and exporting companies.

There he made some of Canada's first export sales of Canadian Laird and Eston lentils; introduced maple peas to western Canadian farmers; helped pioneer Canadian feed peas sales to Europe; and was a founding member and one of the authors of the first version of the Canadian Special Crops Association trade rules. His hands on experience trading these commodities ensures a unique view of markets born from spending nearly as decade in the trenches and many years before and after studying trends and analysing markets.

Now you can experience the full scope of our research efforts through the STAT website and news wire service.
