WASHINGTON - Mar 28/24 - SNS -- Growers intend to plant 6.40 million acres of sorghum for all purposes in 2024, down 11% from last year, according to the USDA's seeding intentions report.
Kansas, the leading sorghum-producing State, is expecting 7% less sorghum acres in 2024 than last year. Texas growers are expecting to plant 25% less of sorghum acres than last year.
As of March 17, Texas growers had planted 27% of their expected acreage, 1 percentage point ahead of last year and 2 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average.
