EDMONTON -- Jun 11/97 -- Gray mold, caused by the pathogen Botrytis cinerea, has become an important disease of dry beans and lentils in southern Alberta. The disease attacks roots of young seedlings causing seedling blight and it can attack stems, leaves and pods of mature plants. Severe losses in seed yield and seed quality can be caused by high incidence of the disease in the field.
