HORSHAM, Australia -- SEP 5/95 -- STAT -- Australian growers made some minor adjustments to the pulse crops sown this year, showing their ability to respond to events outside their country as growers on the continent try to improve income prospects. Even so, production is expected to be up sharply over last year at 2,278,000 MT. This figure is down from the initial projections because of a slight reduction in the total area sown to pulses in Australia this summer. Expected pulse production is 162

- Manitoba Harvest Progresses Despite Weather
CARMAN -- Sep 5/95 -- Manitoba Agriculture -- in the southwest region of Manitoba's agriculytural area warm weather occurred during most of the week. Severe thunderstorms on August 29 caused heavy crop damage in an 8 mile wide strip running from near McAuley, north of Hamiota to south of Neepawa. Hail damage ranges from light to 100%. Some hail damage was also reported north and east of Brandon on September 3.

LONDON, England -- Sept 11/95 -- According to a new report by Leatherhead Food RA, the UK ethnic food market has increased in value by more than 75% between 1990 and 1994 to a value of BPS 373 (USD 574) million, and has become one of the food market's most dynamic sectors. The report cites increasing familiarity of the various food types as a main reason for the growth.

WASHINGTON -- Sept 12/95 -- Dry edible nut production production in the United States is generally higher this season, according to the latest crop production report from the USDA.
