- More Mustard Growth Seen iin Bangladesh
NEW DELHI -- June 2/95 -- STAT -- Mustard seed exporters in Canada are among the biggest gainers in the recent, rapid growth of Bangladesh's vegetable oil industry. Mustard seed shipments soared from under 20,000 MT in 1991-92 to over 80,000 MT this season. The country's vegetable oil output leaped up 25% and combined purchases of rapeseed and mustard seed tripled.

VANCOUVER -- June 5/95 -- STAT -- Major differences of opinion over the direction of pulse production in Australia came to the surface with yesterday's release of the first official estimate of 1995 seeded area. While many processors expect pulse production to slip, the government sees a 6.7% hike in acreage.

WINNIPEG -- June 30/95 -- The Winnipeg Commodity Exchange plans to indefinitely delay the start of feed pea futures trading. It was initially expected trading would start August 1, but problems related to sampling techniques and official feed pea grading need to be resolved before the exchange approves futures trading in the commodity.

OTTAWA -- June 30.95 -- STAT -- Canaryseed market bulls had something to smile about after this morning's seeded area estimates were released by Statistics Canada. Their mood was further supported by the agency's note variable crop conditions and satellite views of vegetative growth across western Canada indicate yields will likely fall below last year.

WASHINGTON -- June 30/95 -- Planted area of canola is estimated at 459,000 acres, up 30% from 1994. Farmers intend to harvest 443,000 acres, up 30% from last year. Planted acreage of rapeseed is estimated at 4,600 acres, down 38% from 1994. Growers expect to harvest 4,200 acres, down 37% from a year ago.
