Canada's Bulk Lentil Exports Drop in May
VANCOUVER - Jun 24/15 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 20,100 metric tons (MT) lentils were exported through licensed facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in May.
The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.
The CGC reports 12,900 MT were shipped the same month last year, while movement is down a third from the 33,700 MT shipped the previous month.
This lifted season to date bulk exports to 455,100 MT since the August start of the current marketing year, compared to 367,100 MT during the same period last season. The 2013-14 marketing year finished with 440,300 MT of lentils exported through facilities reporting to the CGC, versus 231,900 MT the previous season.
