Nervous Finish in Lentils

VANCOUVER - Jun 6/15 - SNS -- Lentil markets finished the week on a nervous footing, with another frost event in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

There were no specific reports of damage to lentils in provincial summaries, but the cool conditions are slowing crop development.

Moreover, a relatively high proportion of the crop is considered to be in fair or worse condition, with many fields needing rain as well as warm weather to recover.

As of the first of June, 44% of Saskatchewan’s lentil crop was rated in fair to poor condition, reflecting the impact of frost events and insect damage to emerging fields.
