Nervousness Entering Lentils
PANAMA - Apr 5/24 - SNS -- International lentil markets are entering the 2024 seeding period on an increasingly nervous note.
India's decision to allow peas to be imported duty free with "on board" bills of lading dated on or before June 30 changed demand fundamentals for lentils from that country.
The fact yellow peas are significantly less expensive that green or red lentils is expected to contribute reduced import demand for lentils by India through the balance of the 2023-24 marketing year.
