Red, Green Lentils Diverge
PANAMA - Jan 26/24 - SNS -- Red and green lentil markets continued to diverge during the past week, reflected tightening stocks of greens and ample supplies of red relative to prospective demand.
Lentil markets expect demand from India to remain strong despite the opening of yellow peas imports because of rising domestic values for tur or pigeon pea.
Recent gains in prices offered to India's farmers for new crop tur have combined with supply disruptions from Mozambique to keep domestic values high on wholesale and retail markets.
