Lentils Close Somewhat Mixed

PANAMA - Jan 19/24 - SNS -- Lentil markets finished the week on a somewhat mixed note despite expectations of strong demand from the Indian subcontinent and other regions of the world.

Regional tensions in the Middle East because of the war in Gaza and attacks on shipping in the Red Seas corridor do not yet appear to interfering with overall demand. Though rising shipping costs could begin to have an impact on risk premiums sought by some exporters.

It is worth noting that a large part of pulses shipped to the Middle East transit through resellers in countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. Of the two buyers, direct data is only available for Turkey
