Lentils Maintain Firm Tone

PANAMA - Dec 22/23 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week on a largely firmer note despite a seasonal slowing in trading activity.

Markets will be effectively silent until the first week of January, though the accumulation of stocks in the bulk handling system suggests exporters are gearing up for nearby bulk conventional shipments.

Values are also being helped by the rapid pace of disappearance of lentils from Canadian farms. by the middle of December, growers delivered half of the product they had available to licensed companies required to report data on a weekly basis to the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC), up from 43% at the same time last season.
