Data Supports Green, Red Spreads
PANAMA - Dec 11/23 - SNS -- Values between green and red lentils are maintaining their wide spreads, reflecting different supply and demand fundamentals for the current marketing season.
Markets were largely unaffected by updated production forecasts for Canada and Australia, though some of the break downs in Canadian output were questioned by some market pariciants.
Australia's red lentil harvest was pegged at 1.393 million metric tons (MT) from 675,000 hectares, compared to 1.687 million from 646,000 hectares last year. Canada's combined harvest of all classes came in at 1.671 million MT from 3.669 million acres, down from 2.3 million from 4.321 million acres in 2022.
