Red Lentil Exports From Turkey Start With Strong Note

PANAMA - May 3/22 - SNS -- At this point in the current calendar year on a a stronger tone, with red lentil movement from Turkey posted decent increases, moving relative to the previous month in February, according to the latest statistics from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).

Movement reached 39,432 metric tons (MT) in the month, up 17% from the 33,765 MT exported the previous month. Export sales so far total 73,197 MT, compared to 45,254 during the last calendar year.

Iraq was the number one consumer during the month, buying 14,935 MT. Sudan was the second most important buyer receiving 7,625 MT, followed by Eritrea at 4,000 MT.
