Canada's Lentil Exports Start With Weak Tone

PANAMA - Mar 8/22 - SNS -- Are starting the marketing year with a weaker tendency, with lentil shipments for Canada posted massive declines, sinking relative to the previous month in January, judging from recent data from Statistics Canada.

Movement for the first month of the marketing year totalled 48,049 metric tons (MT), down 65% from 136,635 MT the previous month. The statistics showed movement is down 36% from the 1,308,304 MT recorded for the same month last year.

Recent movement statistics showed United Arab Emirates was biggest buyer, taking 9,908 MT in the month. United States was the second most important importer receiving 6,254 MT, followed by Algeria at 4,406 MT.
