Lentils Helped by Yield Uncertainty
PANAMA - Aug 5/21 - SNS -- International lentils markets finished the week on a strong note over anticipated demand from India and deep concerns about the yield potential of crops in Canada and the United States.
With the North American harvests underway processors are getting a sense of yields in the early fields, but more progress is needed to get a sense of the overall average.
Statistics Canada will release its initial production estimates at the end of August, while the USDA's will be released on September 10. The combined reports will give markets a preliminary picture of available supplies of both green and red lentils in the region.
