Lentils Maintain Tone

PANAMA - Mar 5/21 - SNS -- Green lentil markets maintained their firm tone through the past week as processors and exporters raise concerns about available supplies in Canada and some other regions.

Movement of all classes of lentils from Canada were brisk during the first half of that country's 2020-21 marketing year, jumping roughly 29% over the same period last season to 1.307 million metric tons (MT).

The country saw significant gains in movement to India because of last year's duty reductions, while shipments to Turkey and the United Arab Emirates posted solid gains as resellers took advantage of strong demand from the Middle East and parts of Africa.
