Lentil Output Jumps 22%
PANAMA - Aug 31/20 - SNS -- Statistics Canada expects this year's lentil harvest to jump 22% from 2.294 to 2.805 million metric tons (MT).
During the past five years, the August production estimate averaged 5% lower than the final, ranging from 4% too low last year to 12% too high in 2017.
The gains in forecast lentil output reflect a 450,000 acre increase in seeded area to 4.233 million acres and a projected 9% increase in average yields to 1,461 pounds per seeded acre.
