Lentils Nervous About India

PANAMA - Nov 8/19 - SNS -- International lentil markets were generally firmer during the past week, despite worries the Indian government is taking steps to interfere with arrivals.

Recent shipments of lentils from Canada and the United States were prevented from entering the country because inspectors claimed they contained "quarantine weed seeds".

After industry representations, the government agreed to "grant (a) one-time relaxation to the consignments" with a bill of lading dated on or before October 24.
