WINNIPEG - Oct 5/15 - SNS -- The average protein content of lentil samples submitted to the Canadian Grain Commission by farmers is down from last year.
For all grades, protein content averages 25.7%, compared to 27% for all grades during the 2014-15 marketing year.
Farmers submitted 199 samples. Of the total, 99 samples graded No 1 Canada; 88 No 2 Canada; three No 3 Canada; and nine extra 3 Canada. Farmers in Saskatchewan submitted 181 samples, compared to 18 for Alberta and none from Manitoba.
