Little Change in Citrus Forecast

WASHINGTON - Jun 10/15 - SNS -- Citrus fruit prodiction estimates for the United States were l;fet essentially unchanged from last month, according to the USDA's latest crop production estimates for 2015.

The United States all orange forecast for the 2014-2015 season is 6.43 million tons, unchanged from the previous forecast but down 5% from the 2013-2014 final utilization.

The 2014-2015 United States grapefruit crop is forecast at 982,000 tons, up slightly from last month's forecast but down 6% from last season's final utilization. In Florida, the row count survey indicated 98% of all grapefruit was harvested. California and Texas grapefruit production estimates were carried forward from the previous forecast.

The United States tangerine and mandarin crop is forecast at 758,000 tons, unchanged from the May forecast but up 3% from last season's final utilization. In Florida, harvest of all tangerines was complete for the season. Arizona and California tangerine and mandarin production estimates were carried forward from the previous forecast.

Florida's tangelo forecast is 700,000 boxes (32,000 tons), unchanged from last month's forecast but down 20% from last season's final utilization. The harvest in Florida is complete, where production is the lowest since the 1960-1961 season.
