WASHINGTON - Mar 28/24 - SNS -- All cotton planted area in the United States is estimated at 10.7 million acres, up 4% from last year, according to the USDA's seeding intentions report.
Upland area is estimated at 10.5 million acres, up 4% from 2023. American Pima area is estimated at 203,000 acres, up 38% from 2023.
Compared with last year, acreage increases are expected in most cotton- estimating States, except Georgia, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Virgina. Texas and Georgia, the largest cotton-producing States, are both expecting a 1% decrease in area planted to all cotton.
