Highly Mixed Week in Birdseeds
PANAMA - Oct 23/16 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets once again registered a mixed performance during the past week, with harvest selling pressure weakening sunflower values.
By contrast, cold and wet weather continues to hamper the ability of canaryseed farmers in Canada to harvest this year's crop. It was less than half complete as the week go underway, a time when more than 90% of the crop should already be in the bin.
Market reaction to the slow pace of the harvest in Canada reflects several factors. Most important is that canaryseed weathers well and the delays are not seen as affecting quantity or significantly changing the yield potential of the crop.
