Record World Lentil Crop Foreseen

PANAMA - Jan 18/16 - SNS -- The world is looking at a significant increase in available supplies of lentils for the coming marketing campaign.

It would not be surprising to see land in the crop push past 4.925 million hectares, while average yields could see global production come in around 5.9 million metric tons (MT). If realized, both seeded area and production would set new record highs.

Demand for lentils should benefit from 2016 being the International Year of Pulses.
