Birdseeds Unchanged to Easier

VANCOUVER - Jan 16/15 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets registered a mixed performance during the week, with Canadian markets holding steady while U.S. markets fell.

An improvement in the weather which encouraged grower participation contributed to weakness in the United States. Prices were also influenced by solid declines in trading levels for wheat and soybeans.

Oil-type sunflower seed markets were off ten cents per 100 pounds in most markets, while white proso millet seed prices dropped fifty cents in grower markets. Canadian canaryseed was unchanged on the week with offers from growers remaining just behind the short term needs of the market.
