Birdseed Ingredients Helped by Bad Weather

VANCOUVER - Jan 11/15 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a firmer note against as demand pulled ahead of offers from growers.

Unusually harsh winter weather conditions were a factor in some areas because it made it too difficult for farmers to sell product. At the same time, strength in canola and soybeans helped lift grower bids for oil-type sunflower.

Confection sunflower bids were unchanged in both spot and new crop shipping positions. Canadian canaryseed markets were little changed on the week, while white proso millet seed advanced as the needs of end users pulled ahead of short term offers from growers and processors.
