Lentils Maintain Firm Tone

VANCOUVER - Oct 25/14 - SNS -- International lentil markets maintained their firm tone in relatively light trade during the past week.

A modest increase in the value of the Canadian dollar allowed grower bids to slip for most grades of lentils, with the spread between Extra 3 Canada and No 1 Canada lentils was essentially unchanged. Bulk movement of Canadian lentils into export markets remains relatively strong.

During the week ending October 19, exporters loaded 47,000 MT of lentils to bulk vessels, boosting bulk exports so far this season to 142,600 MT, up from 123,400 MT during the same period last year.
