Firmer Tone in Birdseeds
VANCOUVER - Jun 7/14 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a generally firmer note, with product available from growers and processors falling behind the short term needs of the market.
Canadian canaryseed growers remain busy with seeding activity. As the week got underway, roughly half this year's intended acreage was in the ground in Saskatchewan.
That is well behind the recent five-year average of 78% sown by the beginning of June, but ahead of last year, when just 41% was sown by this time.
