Markets Expect Lentil Acreage Jump
VANCOUVER - Apr 18/14 - SNS -- International lentil markets were little changed under relatively light trading conditions.
Market attention is focused on next week's seeding intentions estimates for Canada. The April 24 report is expected to show that farmers intend to expand land in lentils to over three million acres.
Statistics Canada does not break down area by class, but markets are certain farmers will seed around two million acres of red lentils this year. A lower number would be supportive for prices.
