Lentils Easier Despite U.S. Doubts

VANCOUVER - Aug 17/13 - SNS -- North American lentil markets finished the week on a generally easier note in anticipation of the Canadian harvest and forecasts yields will be higher than last year.

Growers had been showing an increased willingness to sell new crop product, but that may be tempered by increased volatility in grains and oilseeds and hopes values could move higher.

Those markets were surprised by the USDA estimate that a higher than expected number of corn and soybean acres were prevented from being planted because of seeding delays.
