Ongoing Demand Supports Lentils

VANCOUVER - Apr 13/13 - SNS -- Lentil markets finished the week on a relatively strong note against ongoing demand from the Indian subcontinent and reluctance among Canadian exporters to add to existing positions.

Processors and exporters are worried about selling more new crop product because colder than normal temperatures. This brings with it the chance that seeding will get underway later than normal, which markets associate with below normal yields and lower average quality.

Some market participants are taking a contrary view, thinking the fact crops will be planted into moisture in most areas will give then an initial boost.
