VANCOUVER - Apr 28/12 - SNS -- The worldâs lentil markets were surprised by Canadaâs seeding intentions report, which showed farmers only intend to reduce land in the crop by 4.3%.
Area was widely expected to drop under 2.1 million acres this year because returns from lentils were not as good as those from canola and other crops competing for land use.
Even so, there was an underlying sense that farmers would say they intended to plant more lentils than the trade expected.
