One Third More Chickpeas in U.S.WASHINGTON - Mar 30/12 - SNS -- Expected area planted for all chickpeas to be grown in the United States is 184,000 acres, up 38% from last season, according to this year's seeding intentions report from the USDA. Small chickpea area, which includes desi and 7mm varieties, will come in at 63,000 acres if farmers stick with their intentions, which is 71% higher than 2011.
