Lentils Seasonally Slower

VANCOUVER - Nov 19/11 - SNS -- Volatility on international currency markets and regional economic weakness combined with a seasonal slowing in importer demand to leave lentil markets little changed in light trade.

The marketing year started on a strong note. A record quantity was shipped in August and September, with shipments in each month exceeding 100,000 metric tons (MT) to set individual records.

Export movement is typically strongest in the August through November period. On average, Canada ships 38% of lentils which will be exported during that period, compared to just 17% in December and January.
