Firmer Finish For Lentils

VANCOUVER- Jun 17/11 - SNS -- The world's lentil markets finished the week's trading on a firmer note against fears the drop in North American acreage could result in a fundamental shortage of some classes and grades in the coming marketing year.

The past week also saw one of India's state trading companies tender to buy 2,000 MT of green lentils from Canada and the same quantity from the United States for movement by the end of August.

For their part, red lentil markets were also supported by improved spot market demand for No 3 or better product from Canada from India and other destinations.
