Road Closures Impairs Canaryseed Supply

VANCOUVER - Apr 15/11 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets ended the week's trading on a generally firmer note as growers started to become more concerned with spring field work in drier areas and flood control in wetter areas.

Flooding has become an issue along all major rivers and streams in western Canada and parts of North Dakota.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority reports the "threat of above normal or well above normal runoff persists across most of agricultural Saskatchewan.

"These conditions are linked to excessive summer and fall rainfall in 2010, combined with above average snowpack conditions throughout much of the agricultural area. A threat of very high runoff exists in an area east of a line through Wynyard and Regina, from Hudson Bay in the north down through the Yorkton and Broadview and as far south as Weyburn."
