Lentils Remain Firm

VANCOUVER - Jan 29/11 - SNS -- International lentil markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by drought conditions in parts of the middle east and ongoing issues with the quality of the Canadian crop.

Markets in that country were pleased to hear Canada and Morocco have started free trade negotiations.

That country can be a significant buyer of lentils from Canada. In recent years, imports ranged from a high of 28,607 metric tons (MT) in 2007-08 to a low of 16,167 in 2008-09.
