Short Term Selling Pressure

VANCOUVER - Oct 10/10 - SNS -- Short term harvest selling pressure emerged in Canada over the past week, allowing prices for to ease in both inter-dealer and grower markets.

Markets are finding some underlying support, however, in the latest Statistics Canada production estimates. Statistics Canada continues to expect lentil production in Canada to come in at a record 1.557 million metric tons (MT) this year.

However, the harvest was only around 29% complete when the survey was conducting and informal estimates from Saskatchewan Agriculture taken later suggest the crop may 116,000 MT smaller.
