Chickpeas Strengthen in Quality WorriesVANCOUVER - Sep 24/10 - SNS -- Canada is a residual supplier of chickpeas to world markets, but fears there will be only limited quantities of useable beans harvested this year contributed to a firmer undertone in world markets. There is a growing worry that Canadian processors and exporters could be short against outstanding sales because a high percentage of the crop will be damaged from wet weather conditions. However, any short is unlikely to be very great because chickpeas are known to fare poorly in wet growing conditions and there has not been a week when markets thought Canada faced drought this year.
