Lentils Continue to StrengthenVANCOUVER - Jan 15/10 - SNS -- International lentil markets continue to strengthen in spot shipping positions on account of a firm Canadian dollar and reluctant selling by growers in Canada and the United States. Lentil producers in both countries are in strong positions financially from sales made earlier in the marketing year and do not feel compelled to sell more product to meet medium term cash flow needs. However, there is a general consensus among growers and the trade that Canada will likely seed over 3 million acres of lentils this year. Even so, farmers attending last week's Saskatchewan Pulse Growers annual meeting in Saskatoon showed no fear of prices declining over the near term.
