Birdseeds Mixed In Easy Trade
PANAMA - Mar 22/24 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week on a mixed note, with Canadian canaryseed easing while white proso millet and sunflower were unchanged to firmer in the U.S.
Moderation in prices paid to Canadian farmers for canaryseed since the start of the calendar year have led to some doubts that seeded area will match the intentions reported by Statistics Canada earlier in the month.
However, Statistics Canada's projected area for 2024 is only 5,000 acres below the previous five year average, despite having the potential to advance from 256,200 to 290,600 acres.
