Canada's Chickpea Exports Post Easy Opening

PANAMA - Mar 7/24 - SNS -- Started this marketing year posteda weaker performance, with chickpea shipments from Canada were well down, plunging compared to the previous month in January, judging from official trade data from Statistics Canada.

Movement during the first month of the marketing year totalled 19,522 metric tons (MT), down 26% from 26,283 MT the previous month. The data revealed movement was up 15% from the 101,810 MT reported during the same month last year.

During the month, Turkey was the biggest consumer, taking 7,596 MT. United States was the second most important buyer buying 3,183 MT, followed by Morocco at 1,474 MT.
