Chickpea Exports From Turkey Continue Strong Tone
PANAMA - Mar 5/24 - SNS -- Turkey's export shipments of chickpeas in December made modest gains, rising compared to the previous month, according to data from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).
Shipments for the month reached 33,989 metric tons (MT), up from 33,133 MT the previous month. This increased exports so far during the calendar year to 287,341, up 60% last year.
For the month, Algeria was the largest consumer, buying 13,817 MT. Syria was the second most important importer receiving 2,809 MT, followed by Iraq at 2,628 MT.
