Chickpeas Largely Unchanged
PANAMA - Jan 12/24 - SNS -- International chickpea markets remained largely unchanged in seasonally light trading activity during the past week.
Markets were not surprised by the USDA's final production estimates for 2023, ith chickpea output in that country revised 10,700 metric tons (MT) lower than the September forecast to total roughly 214,200 MT.
Breaking down production, the USDA said land in small caliber chickpeas jumped from 79,700 to 107,200 acres, while large chickpea seedings inched 300 acres lower to 273,100. Total land in chickpeas advanced from 353,100 to 380,300 acres.
