Chickpeas Fundamentals Remain Positive

PANAMA - Dec 11/23 - SNS -- The latest production estmates from Canada and Australia did little to change the fundamental outlook for global chickpeas.

Production of all classes of chickpeas is down from last year, falling from 16.78 million to an estmated 15.84 million metric tons (MT) this year.

At the same time, is seems likely 2024 will see further declines because of a likely reduction in seeded area in India. At the moment, plantings in India are on pace to drop from 11.2 to 10.09 million hectares, with the potential for output to fall from 12.27 to 10.94 million MT.
