Chickpeas Distressed By India's Estimates

PANAMA - Aug 19/22 - SNS -- Chickpea markets maintained their relatively quiet tone throughout the past week, with demand for kabuli type remaining relatively good, while desi chickpea exporters continue to see limited buying interest in key destinations.

India's final crop report for the 2021-22 kharif and rabi production cycle, pegged its chickpea harvest at a record 13.75 million metric tons (MT) of mainly desi type.

Output of all pulses was pegged at a record high 27.69 million MT, reflecting the impact of increased chickpea, urad or black matpe and mung bean harvests.
