Chickpeas Unaffected By Crop Reports
PANAMA - Dec 3/21 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained a relatively firm tone during the past week, unaffected by the latest Australian and Canadian crop production estimates.
This year's chickpea harvest in Australia was pegged at 1.004 million metric tons (MT) of mainly desi type, up from 830,000 last year. Canada's harvest of mainly kabuli types was pegged at 75,192 MT, down from 214,300 MT last year.
Significantly, Australia's 2020-21 marketing year exports are now known. They pushed over 883,000 MT, compared to around 329,300 the previous marketing year.
