Firm Tone in Birdseeds
PANAMA - Jul 24/21 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets maintained a firm tone despite weakness in white proso millet values in the United States.
Hot and dry conditions have created significant doubts about prospective canaryseed yields in Canada. They are also raising doubts about prospective sunflower yields even though the crop can deliver end of season surprises if there are normal temperatures and precipitation after mid-August.
Over the short term, competition for available stocks of sunflower appears to be relatively keen between crushers and birdseed packagers as they work to cover short term needs before this year's harvest gets underway.
