Firmer Week For Birdseeds
PANAMA - Feb 19/21 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets were generally firmer on the week, with processors reporting relatively good demand and some difficulty obtaining merchandise from growers.
Unusual winter weather conditions across much of North America became a factor in some locations, disrupting transportation and making some growers reluctant to deliver product to processors and elevators until conditions improve.
Strength in the Canadian dollar helped lift inter-dealer markets for canaryseed, while grower bids the largely unchanged on the week. Proso millet saw a similar pattern, while oil type sunflower was firmer and confection unchanged.
