Kabulis Finding Firmer Footing

PANAMA - Oct 23/20 - SNS -- Global chickpea markets ended the week's trading on a mixed note, with modest firmness in kabuli markets offset by some weakness in export markets for desi chickpeas.

The recent absence of demand from the Indian subcontinent in the face of a massive increase in production in Australia has generated some anxiety among exporters, who are starting to see increased selling pressure from growers.

Slack demand from the region has an impact on small caliber kabuli chickpea markets, but that appears to be partially offset by steady demand from other parts of the world.
